Woman Knifed in Birmingham City Bus Shelter Attack Dies
The female victim stabbed repeatedly in the neck during a random assault at a bus stop in Birmingham has died, police have confirmed.
The victim, aged 34 years, was targeted in Smallbrook Queensway, just outside the Bullring shopping centre, just prior to 21:00 GMT Friday evening, West Midlands Police said.
The suspect, twenty-one, was presented at Birmingham Magistrates Court Monday morning, facing charges for the attack.
He was previously accused of attempted murder however after the victim's passing the charge has been updated to murder.
Police Response
The force said officers would be around the city centre through Monday to offer reassurance, and investigators were supporting the woman's family.
Detectives are appealing any eyewitnesses who may have seen the accused, identified as British citizen of Black ethnicity, reportedly dressed in grey athletic wear, dark headwear, trainers with a backpack.

The stabbing happened outside the Bullring shopping centre, opposite primary access point to Birmingham New Street station.
Police said they were treating it as a random violent act and Det Insp James Nix said they were working to understand the motive behind.
Eyewitness Reports
An area worker, who works nearby, described the emergency response when she finished her work period around 10 PM on Friday.
She described the scene as extremely disorderly, and said some of her colleagues heard a commotion around 9 PM.
"Many co-workers take public transport, ride the tramline... our security is compromised fundamentally, in the downtown area."
Ashley Birks, twenty-five, resident of Stoke, mentioned visiting to Birmingham quite frequently visiting his partner who lives in the city, and was concerned about what had happened.
"It causes concern about my partner," he said.
"She lacks transportation and works at all of the big music venues... and to think something completely unprovoked occurred, you know, it's horrible."
