Marnus Labuschagne Dropped from Australia's One-Day International Team Versus Team India

The Australian selectors have left out Labuschagne from the three-game ODI series facing India, as in-form Queensland colleague Matt Renshaw getting a surprise call-up.

Recent Form Result in Exclusion

Labuschagne has been omitted from the one-day international side after being dismissed for one in each of his two innings during the recent series against South Africa in August. The right-hander has a top score of 47 in his previous ten ODI innings.

Labuschagne has featured in 68 one-day internationals and scored 1,871 runs at an average of 34.64 runs per dismissal, but will now work towards a return to the Test side ahead of the Ashes starting in Perth on November 21.

Renshaw's Return and Other Squad Updates

There have been indications of a return to form with 160 for Queensland in the domestic first-class competition this week, while Renshaw also hit a hundred for the Bulls in the identical match against Tasmania.

Renshaw could to make his first white-ball appearance in the forthcoming series against India after his last inclusion in an ODI squad in 2022.

Renshaw has played 14 Test matches with the last coming in India in 2023 but is also hoping for a Test return as Australia seek a solution to their batting top-order problems.

Squad Selection Strategy and Fixtures

Australia have announced a squad for only the initial two T20 matches against India with the Ashes approaching, although Glenn Maxwell will miss all of the five-match series due to a wrist injury sustained in New Zealand.

Australia’s three-match ODI series against India begins on October 19 in Perth, before the opponents play five T20s from 29 October.
