Exploring an Bizarre Steam Demo: Guiding a Poop on a Quest to Find the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is now live, and enthusiasts have encountered numerous interesting creations from small studios. But, one is particularly notable for its offbeat concept. Called Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game features a hero that is truly a turd striving to navigate to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" translates to "poop."
The gameplay is simple: you only need a single jump button. Across 150 challenges, encounter tough enemies and unlock a store to purchase outfits for your poop character.
Time your movements with caution, since one mistake requires starting over. Leap on floating orbs to hurl your character higher, cross crumbling platforms, and touch switches to reveal new areas. Collect UN-KOINS to purchase challenging stages where gameplay intensifies.
Graphically, the game shows off neon stages and an amazing soundtrack. The retro visual style featuring moving basic polygons may remind fans of classic titles like Earthbound.
Although hard to recall other games where you play as a coiled turd, interactive entertainment have long included toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players create throwables from protagonist waste. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use feces as soil enrichment. Unsurprisingly, such content is present a lot in the adventure The Stick of Truth.
Despite its silly concept, Unko Technica has already earned significant recognition, including being named best at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. A playable preview is available at present on Steam, with the full game set to launch on PC on November 19.
