Discover 29 Fresh Cards from Magic's TMNT Expansion (Including a Commander Precon Deck!)

Everyone's beloved pizza-loving heroes are arriving to Magic: The Gathering. The well-known trading card game's company, the game's creators, announced a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion at a exclusive panel hosted at New York Comic Con. Could this be a radical addition or yet another crossover marketing move? We'll let you be the judge.

Check out here at all the details announced from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, along with some useful context. All items listed below releases on March 6th, 2026, with one exception — the Pizza Bundle drops a couple of weeks after on March 27.

MTG x TMNT: Core Set Cards

Before diving into all the various unique products and collections available, we’ll examine at the full lineup from the main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion unveiled by the developers. Standard booster packs for the expansion are set at $6.99 per pack, while Collector Boosters should run $37.99 per booster.

Let’s explore a few shell-shocking features. First, a new gameplay mechanic named Sneak, which is a riff on the pre-existing Ninjutsu ability, where gamers can cheat big creatures onto the game field when an attacking creature goes unblocked. The big difference here is that this new ability can apply to non-creature spells too. The designers also took the opportunity to clean up the ability a bit (It is treated as playing a spell, unlike the older mechanic). The original ability isn't going away, but chances are we'll see the new mechanic in future sets from now on.

“If we ever go back to Kamigawa, we might use Ninjutsu since that's where it was developed and it’s a hallmark of that world,” a senior game designer explained. “But in other settings, since the rules are cleaner and the new ability is what's going to be in standard, it’s probable we’ll use the updated version.”

Another version of Leonardo, Sewer Samurai card, is among four cards with unique artwork created specifically for the expansion by TMNT original artist Kevin Eastman.

Additionally, should you be surprised by the rules text on Turtles Forever card, which allows playing game cards outside of your main deck, so was I. Yet according to the developers, that's now a legal card in all formats of Magic.

In any case, below are the highly unusual full-art lands from the TMNT set:

Following Wizards of the Coast's existing guidelines, all these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard play. Developers say they were careful to make sure the new cards and mechanics worked smoothly with other Standard sets like Edge of Eternities.

“I led the development for over a year and we were aware it was going to be in standard and which sets were going to be near it in standard,” the designer says. “We designed to make sure that there's synergy with certain expansions like Edge of Eternities.”

As an instance, both TMNT and Edge of Eternities include a blue-red archetype focused on artifact cards.

“They mesh together to offer the pieces for a enjoyable Standard deck,” he added.

Preconstructed Commander: Turtle Power

Following a decision to design any Commander precons for Spider-Man and the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender expansions, Wizards is changing direction with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only a single precon, but it includes six distinct legendary creatures who could work as your commander depending on how you combine them (five of the cards include a unique Partner mechanic named “Character Select” that lets you start with two commanders in the command zone instead of just one). Check them out for yourself:

The Turtle Power deck is set at $69.99, although the price may rise based on demand. Wizards indicated that it includes 43 brand-new cards in total, which means an additional 37 TMNT-themed game cards in addition to the six legendary commanders pictured above. (Doing some rough math, this suggests about 20 reprinted cards if we estimate the deck comes with 37 land cards.)

What will the Turtles edition of Sol Ring appear? Fans must wait and find out.

Pizza Bundle

For those curious what a “Pizza Bundle promo card” is, it’s basically a reprinted older card with brand-new TMNT art. Wizards revealed an example for the popular Magic card Dark Ritual depicting master Splinter adding toppings on a pizza. There are six different Pizza Bundle promo cards available.

This special bundle launches a few weeks after the core set on March 27, 2026.

Cooperative Play Set

Lastly, the developers are introducing a new concept with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as part of its continued initiative to create Magic products specifically for beginners. In this case, the cooperative set is a unique product of prebuilt decks that let you and a friend join forces against a “Boss” deck that pilots itself.

The concept is that every Boss card gives unique powers to the creatures contained in the Boss deck. Each Boss automatically casts one other card each turn, and you’ll start off battling {one Boss|
