BF6 Gamers Agree: Challenges Are Excessively Difficult
The launch of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 received broad praise, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, live player figures surged to nearly 750,000. However, regardless of its fanfare, a growing number of players are voicing discontent with some of the game's hardest challenges, which are mandatory to access certain guns.
Gamers have begun turning to custom matches set up using the custom game tool to achieve these objectives, underscoring just how arduous these missions have become.
Understanding Battlefield 6 Tasks
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, different from the frequently updated day-to-day and weekly tasks. It features four types of assignments, but where most merely grant skins and a few gadgets, finishing the gun missions is the sole method of obtaining twelve from the forty-one key firearms available in the game.
Some of these locked weapons may soon make their appearance on rankings for the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash via Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are justifiably sharing their frustrations about how hard and tedious some of these challenges are. A particular gamer emphasized one of the most outrageous examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so atrocious and entirely ill-conceived, I want to scream in frustration," is a comment that illustrates just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many benefits in combat as it did in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
Additionally, hipfiring an LMG is extremely unreliable and is effective only at very short distances, which is seldom the location you aim to be. That player also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.
Another Extremely Difficult Mission
A different forum member brought attention to another ridiculously tough challenge, this time in the sniper rifle category to access the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills beyond 200 meters with long-range weapons
This is challenging enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but since there are only nine battlegrounds in the game currently, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, another expansive area, and perhaps a classic map in a best-case scenario if you plan to engage from afar from over 200m away.
The Alternative Method
Nevertheless, a method exists: the portal. The custom game creator is a system that permits you to design tailored experiences on the battleground of your choice, complete with bots. This implies you can cheese the system… but it isn't truly in line with the developer's vision.
But when doing the challenges in a standard match feels like anti-playing, since you are forced to participate in such an atypical style that harms both you and your squad, who can fault a player for grinding them out in a private match so squad members are not disadvantaged?
Potential Changes
It won't come as a surprise if some of these assignments are toned down in the near future, because should they remain unchanged, a portion of the user base simply are unlikely to obtain the restricted guns.
For now, the audience continues to express their views on these demanding battlefield assignments, expecting a less arduous gaming experience in coming revisions.
